2SOLID AI — Cortex Edition
Cortex Code
The engineering edition of the control plane. Issue a mission, watch the agent work your repo in a governed worktree, and hand off to your IDE with the full execution contract attached. Downloadable.
Get Cortex Code§01 — CLASSIFICATION
An engineering instrument, not a code autocomplete.
Cortex Code treats the agent as a governed worker, not a text predictor. Missions carry a manifest and an effect boundary; work happens in isolated worktrees with file leases; every consequential action runs through the same clearance model as the rest of the stack.
§02 — THE WORK CONTRACT
What a mission actually binds.
Every mission in Cortex Code is a verifiable contract — repo, worktree, branch, need, worker identity, and commit state are bound at handoff and re-verified at hand-in.
| 01Mission manifest | code-manifest-k1 | repo · worktree · branch · need · worker · base & head commit · index revision |
|---|---|---|
| 02Effect boundary | Two enforced layers | remote-ref mutations refused · remote config writes refused · push URLs rewritten under a local receiver fail closed |
| 03IDE handoff | Acknowledged, not assumed | the IDE acks iff real head == headCommit, then opens the worktree — named refusals for stale or cross-repo payloads |
| 04Repo index | code.search | model-facing retrieval over the workspace — symbols, imports, callers, deps |
| 05Autopilot | Bench panel | start missions on a need or goal; live run rows; clearance gates appear inline |
§03 — MARKET POSITION
Copilots write code. Cortex Code runs a job.
The category optimizes for keystrokes saved inside an editor. Cortex Code optimizes for work delegated with a boundary — the difference between a suggestion engine and a staff engineer.
Editor copilots
Suggestions inside a file you're already editing.
- Operates on the open buffer, not the repo
- No effect boundary — can touch anything the tool can reach
- Work evaporates when the session ends
- You review diffs with no provenance
Cortex Code
Missions executed under a contract.
- Repo-scoped worktrees with file leases — no two workers collide
- Remote mutations, config writes, and force-pushes refused at the boundary
- Runs, evidence, and clearances persist to the shared brain
- Handoff carries the full state — the IDE verifies before it opens
§04 — PACKAGE
Downloadable desktop build.
Cortex Code ships as a packaged desktop edition on the same binary line as the other Cortex editions — signed installer, staged update channel, offline-capable core.
| 01Formats | deb · AppImage · dmg · exe | per-OS native packages from the electron-builder release line |
|---|---|---|
| 02Update channel | staged feed | electron-updater against the signed release feed; manifests verified before apply |
| 03Launch verification | packaged-launch receipted | every edition boots and renders its own window from its own app.asar — verified, not assumed |
